Crescent Moon Snowshoes are a must-have for this snowshoe season, and we'd like to highlight some of the small businesses that sell them. 2020, a year like no other, has found a focus on shopping small and keeping money locally. We are trying to help spread the love to our partners who share a similar desire. When so many activities and hobbies are hard to partake in, snowshoeing can be done safely and will help not only your physical health but also your mental health.
WELCOME TO OMER AND BOB'S,
where we've got skis, bikes, and other cool stuff. By cool stuff, we mean everything you need for skiing, running, biking, and racquet sports.

We are your Grand Marais outdoor adventure store. Whether you are a veteran wilderness enthusiast or brand new to the outdoor life, we are excited to help you out. Take a trip through our store, and you’ll find high-quality gear and clothing, hand-picked by our staff.
We offer the best social-distancing tools. Cross-country skis. Snowshoes. Hok skis. Fishing poles. We’ve got what you need to have fun and get outside while you are being socially responsible. And since paddling season *sigh* is done, we are offering all of our previously paddled kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards at a steep discount. They have a few blemishes, but they are all paddle-worthy. Give us a call or stop in to see these deals for yourself.

MEL'S HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE 1946!
When he was a young man, Mel Mode was a baseball pitcher. A good one, according to the "old-timers" who saw him play. He played for local teams (including the Rhinelander "Shorties,” named after the local beer). During his stint in the Army, Mel's baseball career took him into the minor leagues’ professional ranks. He was offered a contract to play in the big leagues for the Chicago Cubs, but a back injury ended his career before he could report. Instead of moving to Chicago to play ball, Mel returned to Rhinelander and in 1946 went to work for Del Stengl at a small sporting goods store, The Trading Post.

Howl Adventure Center and Howl Downtown stores are open all year and offer curbside, drop-off and delivery service, indoor and outdoor bike and ski shopping and service, and bike and ski demos daily. We have been operating at 25% capacity with a mask requirement. We have put many of our in-stock items on the website, but there is a lot more at the stores. The Adventure Club Brewery Taproom is open with outdoor seating only, but there are campfires and heaters, and other hearty souls!

We invite you to come and experience a Nordic lifestyle with us.
We specialize in getting into nordic fitness in the right gear from Cross Country Skiing, Nordic Walking, Nordic Trail Running, Snowshoeing or Bounding.
What is a Nordic lifestyle? Simple is the best way to describe it. Living slow and long. Swedes call it "lagom.” Danes call it "hygge.” It all means one thing. Live a good life. Do the small things that make a real difference in life. It's not the showy stuff. It's the meaningful stuff. That perfect view outside your window on a cozy fall day. Slipping into the right gear to get out in. Spending quality time inside or out, with the right people and the right things around you.
