Snowboarding has been gaining popularity for many years now, and like most sports, people are trying new things and going to new heights to make it more exciting. Backcountry snowboarding is getting more attention as we see and hear about snowboarders’ epic adventures who trek into the backcountry to snowboard where most won't go. Some snowboarders helicopter up to the peaks that are off the beaten path, but once there, they need to hike to the area where they will begin to snowboard down. This is where snowshoes and snowshoe accessories come in handy. We have put together a few must-haves for snowboarders who want to venture off the trail to experience backcountry snowboarding.
Foam Snowshoes For Backcountry Snowboarding
It doesn’t get much simpler or more intuitive than hook and loop! The Velcro-like material is “military grade”, specifically designed to resist snow and ice buildup. These foam snowshoes are so lightweight that it feels like you're walking on clouds, and, unlike other snowshoes, they are completely silent.
Both The Eva foam snowshoes and the Luna foam snowshoes are ideal for your backcountry snowboard adventures. They are lightweight and easy to put on, but they also will strap to your backpack when you get to where you plan to snowshoe.
Snowshoe Carry Bag
Snowshoe carry bags are made of Heavy Duty Cordura, with a double zipper, ventilated front pocket, water-proof liner, and holds one pair of Crescent Moon snowshoes. Once you reach your destination on the mountain, throw your foam snowshoes in the carry bag and either attach to your backpack or put it all in your backpack if there is room. If you reach an area where you need to snowshoe again, they'll be easily accessible to swap out.
Poles For Snowshoes and Snowboarding
Having poles will definitely make your balance better, and in deep snow, will also make it easier to snowshoe. These poles are ideal for both snowshoeing and snowboarding. Having a pair of snowshoe poles that break down and fit inside your backpack is the perfect solution for backcountry snowboarding. You might find areas in your snowshoe adventure where it's advantageous to have a set of poles as well.
