Snowshoe Grind - Grouse Mountain

Anyone who is looking for a challenge should consider Grouse Mountain, often called the Snowshoe Grind. This trail is 4.3 km and will take 1 to 2 hours to accomplish for those who with experience. The total elevation gain is only around 200 meters. Grouse Grind starts from a beautiful chalet, and the steep trails lead to an area known as Dam Mountain. While the round trip Gondola ticket is going to cost around $45, it is worth it. The trail at Grouse Grind starts just outside the chalet. Look for it behind the skating rink. This trail is an enjoyable experience for anyone who is looking for a challenge.

Snowshoe Bowen Lookout

Another top snowshoe trail in the region is called Bowen Lookout, located at Cypress Mountain. This trail is 3.5 km long and takes between 1.5 hours and 2 hours to finish. The elevation gain of this trail is around 100 meters. This trail is short but steep and sweet. Even experienced athletes in the world of snowshoeing will work up a sweat on this challenging snowshoe trail. The resulting views of Bowen Island and Howe Sound are gorgeous, and the views alone are worth the trip. This trail is at the end of the Backcountry Access Corridor, located just west of the Eagle Express Quad Chairlift. Give this trail a try to experience some of the most beautiful views in the area.

Black Mountain Snowshoe Trail at Cypress Provincial Park

The Black Mountain snowshoe trail at Cypress Provincial Park is a longer trail at around 7 km for the entire trip. It takes between two to three hours to snowshoe, and the total elevation gain is 270 m. This steep snowshoe trail mirrors some of the most beautiful ski runs in the local area. The snowshoe trail is at the top of Black Mountain. At the summit, follow the path that is in the shape of a loop. It will pass by some gorgeous frozen lakes in the area. Remember to pick up a tag at the lodge before setting out on the trail. The corridor is west of the Eagle Express Quad Chairlift. This snowshoe trail is in a similar location to Bowen Lookout.

Discovery Snowshoe Trails at Mt Seymour

Finally, Discovery Snowshoe Trails at Mount Seymour. The Discovery Snowshoe Trails is a total of 5.5 km that will take between one to three hours, and the total elevation gain is only 50 meters. Discovery snowshoe trails are 12 trails that sit just below the parking lot of Mount Seymour. There is a bunny hill that rests just above this trail and these loops are great for beginner snowshoers. It does require a trail pass that costs around $10, but the trails are long, fast, and easy to find.
